It’s been said you can’t keep a good thing down. As we’ve seen in recent years, it doesn’t matter how long a vehicle has been out of production; they can always make a return that impresses and awes. And while the Chevy Trax only had a brief hiatus that lasted for one year, its upcoming return for the 2024 model year has already gathered a great deal of attention from industry critics and the car-buying public.

Here at Ryan Chevrolet of Minot, the excitement is in the air. Our dedication to bringing our customers the very best is matched equally by our anticipation regarding the model’s return with the 2024 Chevy Trax. After all, we’re much more than just a North Dakota Chevy dealer; we’re drivers who understand the need for an exceptional vehicle.

Underbidding the Competition

For many drivers currently in the market for a new vehicle, the cost is a major determining factor in what they choose—and the Chevy Trax is up against some stiff competition as the crossover SUV class continues its rise in popularity. To demonstrate just how seriously Chevy is taking itself in the battle against its biggest rivals, the 2024 Chevy Trax has an ultra-low starting MSRP of only $20,400.[a] This is considerably less than similar offerings such as the Volkswagen Taos, Hyundai Kona, Kia Niro, and Mazda CX-30. Once again, Chevy has circled the wagons to deliver a better product at an easily affordable cost for the average consumer.

Expect More in 2024

The new edition of the Chevy Trax has the advantage of a bold redesign that sees massive improvements inside and out. The Trax now has more room in the interior, both in terms of passenger space and storage capacity. With over 54 cu.ft. of room for cargo, you’ll have no trouble getting those yard sale finds back to your place.

One of the biggest changes to the Trax is its all-new powertrain. Utilizing a similar setup as the Chevy Trailblazer, the Trax is propelled by a 1.2L EcoTec Turbo I-3 engine. Equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission—instead of the CVT it had used in previous years—this three-cylinder offering is the sole option. It yields 137 hp and can generate 162 lb-ft of torque. This setup nets a fuel economy of 28 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway, for a combined 30 MPG.

This fuel economy rating is very close to what the Chevy Malibu attains, as it’s also estimated that drivers will save upwards of $750 in fuel costs over a five-year period. The fact that the Trax gets roughly the same conservative fuel consumption as a significantly-smaller four-door sedan is reason enough for the excitement regarding its long-awaited return.

New Interior That Breaks the Mold

As mentioned earlier, redesigning the 2024 Chevy Trax has benefitted the vehicle inside and out. While the new effective powertrain is excellent news for a driver keen on saving money at the pump, Chevy has also paid a fair amount of attention to its cabin and amenities. If the exterior of the Trax makes you take notice, then the interior will generate awe like never before.

In fact, the Trax’s interior manages to encapsulate the Camaro-inspired HVAC vents of the Chevy Blazer and simultaneously possesses a style all its own. Similar to many of the popular designs throughout the industry, the interior of the Trax is centered around its infotainment screen. While an 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard on the base trims, we were beyond impressed with the available 11.0-inch version. Its six-sided shape is perfectly embedded into the top of the dashboard and elevates the style of the Trax to a place far beyond its predecessors. This infotainment system has wireless compatibility with both Apple and Android products, allowing you to enjoy all your necessary apps with relative ease.

Last but not least, we were impressed with the stylish gear shifter. It’s both familiar and forward-thinking—and certainly performance oriented. The ergonomic head is sure to fit any-sized palm.

Safety & Driving Assistance Features

Chevy has a long-standing reputation for putting safety at the forefront of its vehicles. Because the people who tend to benefit the most from the SUV class are family-oriented consumers, Chevy has gone above and beyond to ensure the Trax has all the latest and greatest attributes to enhance the driving experience and keep you safe during your travels. Standard on the 2024 Chevy Trax is a comprehensive suite of features referred to as Chevy Safety Assist; six unique features are included here and are essential for modern driving.

Automatic Emergency Braking: Reaction time is an essential skill for any experienced driver to possess. The moment a potential collision is noticed—and the right maneuvers implemented—passes by in the blink of an eye. Here, forward sensors detect imminent danger and begin applying the brakes beforehand, to be bolstered by your use of the brake pedal.

Front Pedestrian Braking: Safety is the primary responsibility of every driver. Not just for ourselves but the other vehicles and pedestrians we share the road with. Similar to Automatic Emergency Braking, these sensors detect when something small is approaching and will intercept your path; it then triggers the brakes for a quick stop, should the encroaching object not stop soon enough.

Lane Keep Assist With Lane Departure Warning: There are numerous locations where an accident may occur; while changing lanes is a rudimentary action that we all undertake, staying in our lane and knowing the proper time to depart is essential to maintaining safety. This system gently guides your steering wheel on long highway bends to ensure you are keeping in your lane.

Forward Collision Alert: Along with the Emergency and Pedestrian braking that the Trax comes equipped with, Forward Collision Alert is just as important in maintaining reaction time. While many of us are responsible drivers, things can still come as a surprise, and being briefly distracted is simply part of human nature. This alert will afford an additional warning should something obstruct your path, ensuring you notice it and can react appropriately.

IntelliBeam High Beam Assist: The most important part of any commute, regardless of the distance, is maintaining visibility. IntelliBeam is one of GM’s most remarkable innovations. Engaging when visibility is limited, high beams will disengage in the presence of oncoming traffic; this ensures your visibility is maintained and other drivers’ as well, by reducing luminosity for oncoming traffic.

Following Distance Indicator: Another feature that assists in reaction time, this feature displays the distance between your vehicle and the one ahead of you, measuring that distance in the number of seconds it would take for you to cover that gap. This will help ensure you maintain a safe distance from the other vehicles on the road.
